Have you ever felt that excitement of joining a team? How about when you were starting a new job? You join this team or you’re getting ready to start this new job, and you begin to dream of how great it’s going to be and all of the possibilities of the amazing things that’ll happen run through your head. A few months in, the feeling of excitement quickly fades away, and you might be questioning your decision making. You’ve got to dig a little deeper and grind harder to make it worth your while.

Many times, we feel this way in life or in ministry because we haven’t made what we’re involved in or doing our own. The sense of belonging or community can only sustain you for so long if you truly haven’t taken ownership over what you do. The question then becomes do you truly have a desire to continue this path? You’ll burn out doing it this way because the focus has gone from doing it out of passion, to doing it out of duty. We must return to our first love which is Jesus Christ. When we are content in Jesus, we are able to do things that flow from passion and excellency, rather than mundane and duty. If our hearts are in the right place and we are completely content in Jesus, we can own the vision and steward it correctly.

 Scripture to Meditate on

Ezra 10:4

“Arise, for it is your task, and we are with you; be strong and do it” Gal 6:5-9

Ask yourself: “Have I truly been owning the vision of Ascend and the vision that God has placed over my life?” Allow the lord to highlight the areas where passion and ownership have been lacking bring him back as the focus and remember the “Why” to what you do.

The vision of Ascend is to empower a generation to walk in the fullness of who they are in Christ Jesus.
